A Cape Town-based company has developed South Africa’s first compatible Covid-19, the FitPods. Not knowing when gyms will reopen, the Ideas Cartel (IC) organization has created walls at its 4 sites in Cape Town and made them the foundation for the first personal And Covid-19-compatible “FitPod” in South Africa.
Three weeks ago, founder and CEO Schuyler Bruce Vorster approached the concept of modifying the Cartel House component of the IC portfolio’s collaborative workspaces into exclusive modules.
Currently, glazed spaces of more than 20 m2 are operational as a component of Loop Street, while others are being developed in the center of Old Foundry and the 71 Waterkant Hotel, and the Labia house in Muizenberg.
The respective capsules are suitable for indoor running, spinning, rowing, yoga and boxing. All are supplied with the device for a complete frame training.
“Since before Covid-19’s good fortune, we’ve noticed an herbal progression toward (and a desire) for personal spaces,” Vorster said.
“Since the creation of our coworking collection in 2013, we have expanded our amenities to meet people’s demands and what they want to be as productive and active as possible.
“During the shutdown, we sought to keep our members engaged and developed the Cartel Connect Online (CCO) app for members who had a virtual network, a private virtual assistant, online food deliveries and live physical training and music through DJs.Array
“From there, applying for a fitness area that could satisfy the wishes of active Americans in a Covid-19-compatible environment was the motivation to begin remodeling and perfecting several of our coworking sets or rooms at FitPods.
“We had the land area, so we used the area and walls to turn them into exercise-friendly modules. People are influenced by the area around them and opportunities in the areas of some.”
“We need to start getting rid of the limits of the pandemic and give others the opportunity to move with the greatest freedom imaginable in a safe and hygienic environment, whether it’s exercising, working, learning, sleeping, eating and having a different bond. “
Each sealed glass FitPod (ranging from five mx squares consistent with the capsule) is subject to hygiene control and is disinfected again when users enter and exit the capsule. Each capsule is supplied with the strength and stretching device you want for a full frame workout, adding an aerobic device of your choice (treadmill/static bike/rowing).
“Thanks to Covid-19, we have implemented hygiene protocols in all of our fitness amenities for hotel guests, tenants working together, FitPod users and staff.
“This includes the advent of hygiene and prevention measures based on World Health Organization guidelines, government needs, and our own artistic projects to restrict the transmission of Covid-19 in an exercise-friendly area.”
“From fitPod check-in to on-site showers, controls and protection and hygiene needs are documented.”
Since its development, Vorster says there has been strong demand for FitPods. “Since it opened almost a month ago, we have noticed an exponential expansion in the call as we increase our number of groups. The bill of interest is organic and, in many cases, word of mouth. People are curious about spaces.
“For us, it’s about listening to what other people need and defining and perfecting an adaptable, scalable and favorable concept for all those who need to get involved.”
