Fijian rugby team 15s are hoping for an uphill physical war in Sunday’s win against South Africa in New Zealand to advance from the women’s Rugby World Cup organising level.
The two most sensible groups in the group are guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals with the two most sensible third.
On paper with existing world rankings, Fijiana (21st) wishes a miracle against South Africa (11th) for this goal.
However, according to the list and former Flying Fijians coach Inoke Male had devised a girl-friendly plan to counter South African strikers.
“We did well (yesterday) and had a smart education session,” Male said.
“The women responded well in training. For us it’s a win-win match.
“South Africa has players in the team. They will be physical in front and when running in a straight line.
“So that’s what we did after watching their first game. “
Male said his thing would be to run with the ball Fijian-style.
“That’s what we’re known for, and that’s what we’re going to do consistently this Sunday. “
Fiji lost to England 19-84 in the first round of the World Cup, while South Africa lost to France 5-40.
The match between Fiji and South Africa starts at 4:45 p. m. m. at Waitakere Stadium.
