ZURICH – FIFA has suspended Honduran player Wisdom Quaye for 18 months for doping with a steroid in a World Cup qualifier against the United States. FIFA says Quaye tested positive for clostebol after Honduras’ 3-0 loss to the United States in February. It was played in the bloodless frostbite in St. Paul, Minnesota. According to FIFA, Quaye, 24, declared the anti-doping rule violation. It has reached an agreement to serve a sanction that applies retroactively and will expire on August 1, 2023. Honduras failed to qualify for the World Cup as they finished last in the top qualifying organization for the CONCACAF region.
