(KTEN) – Oklahoma lawmakers have approved aid investment for the U. S. bailout plan. U. S. COVID for Southern Oklahoma at last week’s special session.
Those millions of dollars in approved use for the region.
The first approved bill is for the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority for a low-power transmitter in Ardmore.
“It’s going to be vital because it’s going to be for our kids that if they have to be homebound again, it’s going to be wonderful for eventually our broadband expansion,” said state Rep. Tammy Townley (R-District 48).
Another Texoma company that won an investment ($17. 1 million to be precise) is Southern Oklahoma Water Corporation, which will use it to upgrade water treatment plants at Ardmore Airpark and Murray State Park.
In addition, Ardmore Airpark will get another $47 million from the Growing Rural Economic Prosperity Fund to expand rail and air assets.
“This allocation will fund the railway, which can attract new business and new riders to the park,” said Andrea Anderson, vice president of economic progression for the Ardmore Development Authority.
With the entire COVID relief budget earmarked for southeastern Oklahoma, the monetary boost will grow cities and rural towns.
“These projects won’t just benefit Ardmore,” Anderson said. “They will offer jobs that will be driven by other people from Atoka and Duncan. Therefore, it will help make the airport warmer than it already is. “
