Staff working at the historic Rolls-Royce plant in Hucknall, now owned by a new owner, have raised considerations about the long term of their work as a 1. 5 billion pound deal looms.

In May last year, Rolls-Royce announced plans for 8,000 jobs worldwide, and its shares fell to 16-year-olds amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Fortunately, the Hucknall-based site was saved, but plans were made to move the plant to its subsidiary ITP Aero.

As of Monday, May 10, former Rolls-Royce painters will now paint completely for ITP Aero, and staff say the move went well, feeling they haven’t gotten out of danger yet.

These considerations arise when ITP Aero is now in the race to be sold through Rolls-Royce in order to recover some of its lost finances.

The company will sell ITP Aero for approximately 1. 5 billion pounds, almost all of its 2 billion pound target, and the auction is already open.

Spanish aerospace company Aciturri Aeronautica is one of the companies it buys.

A member and representative of the industry trade union committees of Derby and Hucknall Works and spoke to Nottinghamshire Live to say that Rolls-Royce’s transition to ITP Aero had been “fine” until now, the only notable replacement is “the badge on our T-shirts”. .

However, they are concerned that there is no warranty once ITP Aero is sold.

He said: “We don’t know who they’re going to sell us to.

“There is no guarantee of employment. “

ITP Aero is a Basque country company that manufactures engines and turbines.

The Spanish government could reportedly potentially block the sale of the company if guarantees are given on its long term with a new owner.

Hucknall’s staff member added: “We know that other contacts in Spain are looking to bring all kinds of sales situations to their jobs.

“We need our government to put things in terms of sale.

“We asked for an explanation of the workload and guarantees when they sold us, but Rolls-Royce said they couldn’t do it.

“This may be the value of the promotion if there are more conditions. They don’t give us anything. They’re just bringing in the cash to pay the creditors. “

“The feeling is that everyone is depressed about it. I’m a little sorry for PCR, they seem to be a smart company, but it turns out it’s just been screwed to fatten the turkey.

“ITP has not yet been anything frank with us, however, they may be in a complicated scenario in the future.

“Some of the guys here have many years of service and that’s a wonderful thing for Hucknall and the families here.

“Of the six hundred of us, there are about 150 Hucknall.

“Now we’re going to raise the profile of MPs and the government. “

Rolls-Royce had said in the past that jobs would not be affected, but ITP-owned site staff are concerned that it is not the engineering company’s resolution whether jobs are deleted or maintained once under a new owner.

An ITP Aero spokesman said: “ITP Aero keeps all Hucknall workers, as well as the robust control team, led through Ian Williamson.

“In addition, as a member of ITP Aero, Hucknall will compete for the business of other engine brands in the industry and aim for new opportunities for expansion and investment. “
