The man who allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old boy in a Lynn Market Basket parking lot in June was arrested Tuesday, the government said.
Adrián Peña, 18, is in the custody of the U. S. Marshals Service in the Dominican Republic, Essex County Prosecutor Paul Tucker said in a statement.
Peña will be prosecuted as a fugitive in Miami and then prosecuted for murder after being extradited to Massachusetts, Tucker said.
Lynn police discovered Kai Burgos suffering from a gunshot wound in a crashed car on June 15. The vehicle had several bullet holes and crashed into a ravine, Boston. com previously reported.
“We hope to pursue this case to achieve justice and some peace for the family of Kai Burgos,” Tucker said. “The patience and determination of authorities in this case demonstrates their determination to seek fair final results and the protection of our community. “
