Oregon reported fewer coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, adding 8,001 new cases. That’s an 11. 2% drop from last week’s tally of 9,011 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Oregon ranked 35th among the states with the fastest spread of the coronavirus according to a study of data from Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY Network. Over the past week, coronavirus cases in the United States rose as much as 7. 4% in the past week, with 906,593 cases reported. With 1. 27 percent of the country’s population, Oregon recorded 0. 88 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, 28 states had more instances in the week after than in the week after.
Marion County has reported 585 cases and six deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 687 cases and deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 78,983 cases and 761 deaths.
Polk County has reported 191 and no deaths in the past week. A week earlier, he had reported 173 and one death. During the pandemic, it has reported 18,120 and 141 deaths.
In Oregon, cases fell in 19 counties, with declines in Multnomah County, with 1482 cases up from 1961 the previous week; in Lane County, with 715 cases out of 871; and Clackamas County, with 599 out of 744 instances.

In Oregon, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Grant County with 500 cases per 100,000 per week; Douglas County with 344; and Sherman County with 281. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the network’s highest levels of transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
Multnomah County, with 1482 instances, added the maximum number of new instances overall; Washington County, with 1,080 instances; and Lane County, with 715. The number of weekly instances was higher in 15 counties than last week. Last week’s worst speed increases occurred in Douglas, Polk and Union counties.
In Oregon, another 79 people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 112 people died.
A total of 850,352 people in Oregon have tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 8,101 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 91,316,648 people tested positive and 1,029,926 others died.
