The dissemination of false data on government projects around Covid-19 has placed Brazil on a list of the countries most affected by phishing attacks, according to a new spam and phishing issued through security company Kaspersky.
According to the report, approximately one in 8 Internet users in Brazil (12.9%) accessed at least one malware link between April and June 2020, well above the global average of 8.26% during the same period.
The large accumulation of disdata campaigns around planned pandemic-like government projects is the main driving force of construction, the software company said. An example of scams sent to users in recent months discussed in the report is an email containing false information.Data that the government had suspended invoices for the pandemic’s energy expenditures, which included a link inviting users to sign up for the benefit.
Recent trends place Brazil as the fifth most affected country by phishing in a list compiled through Kaspersky from the report. Venezuela tops the list, where 17.56% of users clicked on a link to malicious content, followed by Portugal (13.51%), Tunisia. (13.51%) France (13.08%).
Another kaspersky study, published in July, suggests that Brazilians are more aware of the security dangers on the Internet, but still want to replace their online behavior.The May study, which evaluated users with at least two devices connected, found that 48% did not have their Internet security habits.
This relaxed attitude towards online protection has 3 main reasons, according to the study: about 45% of Brazilians do not prioritize this due to daily pressures, although they recognize that they deserve to pay more attention to their protection when the Internet.36% say they feel more confident in conducting online monetary and commercial transactions, while 33% of Brazilians surveyed said it had nothing of price to offer cybercriminals.
In terms of how Brazilians deal with these threats, nearly two-thirds (62%) Brazilians interviewed via Kaspersky said they installed reliable apps on their devices, downloaded from resources such as Apple Store and Google Play.More than one part (54%) reported performing normal security checks on their cell phones.
