(RTTNews) – French commercial production slowed more than expected in August, driven by manufacturing, as the first knowledge of insee statistics showed on Friday.
Total commercial production rose 1. 3% since July, when it rose 3. 8%. Economists made a profit of 1. 7%.
Manufacturing production grew through 1 cent consistent with the month of August, which is much slower than the 4. 5 cent consistent with the July expansion.
Industrial production fell by 6. 3% through February, the last month before the start of the general blockade to combat the coronavirus pandemic, or Covid-19, INSEE said.
Industrial production decreased by 7. 4% compared to February.
In August, production increased in manufacturing, transport equipment manufacturing, mining and quarries and utilities, but at a slower pace.
At the same time, production of machinery and capital goods and food and beverages declined after expanding last month. Production of coca and subtle oil continued to decline at a steady rate.
Construction production rose 4. 9% as of July, up 4%. Compared to February, the production of structures remained 1. 2% lower.
