The fischer Group is a global supplier of stainless metal tubes, with 2,500 international employees and an annual turnover of 650 million euros. In 2019, the manufacturer began an amazing transformation.
As a pipe factory and pipe manufacturer, one of its main markets and profit resources have been parts for automotive exhaust systems. The control of the business of the circle of relatives evaluated the long term of the car and decided that the exhaust systems would eventually be eliminated with the appearance of electric vehicles.
As a result of this evaluation, the company looked for other opportunities to update its main source of profit and took a big leap forward. The pipe manufacturer has a stamper of hot-formed high-strength aluminum parts to lighten electric cars and other cars. I had never done this kind of print before.
Marc Schweizer, Head of Business Development at fischer group, explained.
“Our stainless metal pipes are very similar to the combustion engine: exhaust systems, exhaust converters, oil pipes, water pipes. . . all the tubes you want for the operation of the combustion engine. “Fischer also manufactures tubes.
“Since times are changing now and all new electric cars are popping up everywhere, control has been for new corporations for a few years. We still have a strong position in stainless metal pipes for the chemical and food industries, however, the automotive exhaust pipe business is no longer developing in the future. Above all, it gets smaller in the long run,” Schweizer said.

The procedure is made up of 4 steps, Schweizer said.
First of all, the aluminum blanks are heated to discharge the curtains put in solution. The hot white space is then temporarily moved to the press, where it is pressed and then soaked. it moved to the aging domain where the piece is aged in a type of cooking process. The fourth and final step is to laser cut the outline of the piece.
In another process, a spouse cleans and coats the portions for final assembly.
Fischer had an AP HYDROFORMING SYSTEM
“The transition to this procedure was a daunting task because the heat remedy is different from the formation of the tubes without bloodshed. The hot thermal procedure was very new to us. It’s not more complicated, but it’s different. You have to see things differently. “Schweizer said.
“In hot forming, it has 4 main temperature-like production processes: heat solution in solution, heating, cooling and aging. You need to maintain and adjust the temperature accurately enough to get smart quality. It has to reach the temperature. You have to be very explicit about time, which means that you should keep the time of some portions in the open position exactly, but no more and no less. You want to keep track of all portions. You want to measure portions differently.
This required extensive education from the team. ” It was also quite an attractive story, as we didn’t have a line to train. This was all during the pandemic,” Schweizer said. Since Germany’s COVID-19 restrictions were stricter than Sweden’s, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get AP sneakers for travel.
“We are going to move our core team of about 15 workers to the AP facility.
“It was a very steep education curve. I don’t think it would have been imaginable with occasional education, phone calls, and video conferencing. In the end, it was the most productive resolution fischer could have made to meet customer needs.
The entire facility and education was completed in less than a year.
At present, Fischer hot-stamps the structural parts of the body, the panels and the battery cover: another 10 references in total.
“And the quality of the existing component is good. “
The business of the 50-year-old circle of relatives is in its generation moment. The founder, Hans Fischer, replaced through his two sons, Roland and Hans Peter, who is the CEO. Fischer has services all over the world: in Canada, China, Germany, South Africa, Austria, Mexico, Uruguay and the United States.
The expansion that will come with hot stamping in its features is a major milestone for the company, Schweizer said.
“It’s huge. I’d say it’s one of the biggest tweaks in the company’s history. Securing a leading emerging automaker as the first visitor was instrumental in the investment decision. “It has made it much less difficult to invest in the new technology. . . to open the checkbook and make things happen. “
Large investments in capital goods can have a long investment journey, but it is vital for family control to make sound decisions about the direction of the company to secure its future.
“As this is a family business circle, our corporate control thinks long-term. They want to grow the business for the next generation. They are not looking for short-term gains; they seek to have a secure company. And so the resolution was quite clear. You will have to act. You want to locate other corporations to have a secure future,” Schweizer said.
