BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanian prosecutors asked a Bucharest court Friday (Dec. 30) to extend Andrew Tate’s detention for 30 days after the questionable network figure was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and forming a group of concerted criminals.
Tate, a former professional boxer, and his brother Tristan were detained on Thursday (Dec. 29) for an initial period of 24 hours alongside two Romanian suspects, prosecutors from the organized crime unit said after searching their homes in Bucharest.
“Prosecutors against organized crime have notified the sentence of rights and freedoms in the Bucharest court of a proposal of preventive detention of the 4 suspects for 30 days,” prosecutors said Friday.
The brothers declined to comment Thursday, their lawyer showing they had been detained.
Prosecutors said the Tate brothers had been investigated by thieves since April.
“The 4 Array-suspects. . . appear to have created an organized criminal organization with the goal of recruiting, harboring and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content for viewing on specialized programs in exchange for a fee,” prosecutors said in a statement Thursday.

Prosecutors said they discovered six who had been sexually exploited through the suspects.
