Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced on July 16, 2020 that Canadian and U.S. officials would increase the closure of the border between the two countries at least until August 21, along with other imaginable extensions. The border will remain closed for all travel that is not essential. Essential travel will continue to be allowed and will come with approved advertising shipments, essential staff and transient foreign staff.
The closure of the border (which took place on 18 March 2020) will expire on 21 July.
“Once again, Canada and the United States agreed to extend existing border measures up to a month until August 21, and we will continue to paint heavily with our U.S. neighbors to protect others on both sides of the border.” Trudeau said. Announced.
Previously, Trudeau had advised that the cloister of the coronavirus border would be prolonged for a certain type of audience. “Every month we have been able to make bigger border boundaries for all goods and facilities, unless it is essential, and those discussions continue with the United States right now, as we are a week away from the next final date. We will continue to paint hard to remain Canadian and keep our economies flowing, and I’m sure we’ll have more to say later this week.
The announcement of the continued closure of the border comes as Covid 19 case rates continue in the United States, while Canada has been more successful in crushing the pandemic curve and cities have slowly begun to reopen nationwide.
Last month, however, the Canadian government eased restrictions on the Canada-U.S. border by stating that the immediate circle of family members, citizens, or permanent citizens could enter the country as of June 9, 2020. The remainder of the border ban is very limited and applies only to “foreign citizens who form an immediate circle of relatives members of Canadian citizens and permanent citizens, who do not have COVID-19 or who show symptoms or symptoms of COVID-19”.

In addition, all travelers entering Canada (with the exception of those deemed essential) must remain quarantined for 14 days.
