Does the world now see America as a colony of modern lepers that will have to be contained? It may sound harsh, but right now many countries are more involved with our disease than with our dollars. With one in a hundred Americans inflamed by coronavirus, countries that were once largely open to American visitors are closing their doors.
It is the peak of the summer season, but few Americans abroad. Many of us have financial difficulties or fitness disorders and local restrictions, and the decline in air has been well documented. The ceo of American Airlines would probably have asked Americans to “fly for Di-s’s sake,” but few respond to that call.
But even if Americans simply travel, the top destinations will not settle for American visitors and related risk, due to the higher point of coronavirus in the United States.
When the European Union “opened up” to domestic and external tourists in early July, the United States had an obvious absence from the list of countries that citizens can visit, such as Canada, Australia and South Korea.
The European Union has a de facto ban on countries testing beyond a safe threshold for the new coronavirus.
The policy in Lithuania, for example, a member of the EU since 2004, has lately been to allow access to other EU members and EU citizens. That is, “provided that the occurrence of COVID-19 (coronavirus contagion) in the country where you legally reside has not exceeded 25 instances / 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 calendar days”, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic. Republic of Lithuania. As of July 19, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the U.S. rate is 1128.3 cases per 100,000 people.
When the EU first banned American travelers because of the highest level of coronavirus, the US had 2.7 million infections as of June 30, according to Johns Hopkins’ knowledge. Since then, the U.S. coronavirus rate, as well as the list of countries banning American travelers, has only increased. As of July 20, the World Health Organization reported that nearly 3.7 million coVID-19 cases had been diagnosed in the United States. A report even claims that coronavirus cases in the United States can be only 10 times higher than the knowledge shows.
Regarding the travel destinations imaginable for Americans, a recent CNN article indexed only nine countries open to U.S. citizens. The Balkans are imaginable because Albania, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia and Serbia are “open” to the Americas, as are the Maldives, Tunisia and Turkey. Closer to home, are the Dominican Republic and Mexico, although Mexico does not allow crossing the border lately. It is said that high-level travelers who stop at Mexican resorts are fine.
Travel publications like to put a face to a bad situation, through the transmission of articles like “This is where Americans can go.” The truth is that many countries have banned Americans, but some let the individual know that they are disease-free. The United Arab Emirates, for example, will require travelers from high-risk countries (Americans may look in the mirror) to make a COVID-19 check no more than four days before their scheduled flight.
The European Union is the largest foreign entity that now prohibits Americans, yet countries from Canada to China deny access to Americans. The last indignity was the end of the Bahamas on its border with the Americans. Some might see this as the equivalent of the United States wasting Trinidad and Tobabgo and not qualifying for the 2018 World Cup final.
In the Bahamas, air and sea travel to the US will be suspended this week, tourists from the EU, Britain and Canada will still be able to receive evidence of a recent test of coronavirus negative. The Prime Minister of the Bahamas has pointed to the recent outbreaks of COVID-19 cases and deaths as an explanation for the American ban.
Unfortunately, through maximum measurements, the United States is in fact number one in terms of coronavirus. According to the World Health Organization, the United States is the leader in the total number of cases, with 3,685,460, Brazil is number 2 with 2,074,860 and India is third with 1,118,043. WHO statistics show that the Us also leads the total number of DEATHS by COVID-19, with 139,498, followed by Brazil, 78,772 and the United Kingdom, 45,300.
Measured in a number of cases consistent with millions, the United States is the tenth, nine countries much smaller. Qatar tops the list with 38,121 instances consisting of millions, meaning that only about 4% of the population has been infected. French Guiana, Bahrain and Little San Marino have more than 20,000 instances corresponding to millions of inhabitants, or 2%. It is followed by Chile, with 17,414 instances consisting of millions, and Vatican City, with a rate of 14,981 consistent with millions (although its population is only 801 inhabitants). Who says the U.S. rate Is it 11,919 cases consistent with millions, or about 1.2% of the population?
Of course, The Americans intended to travel abroad anyway. The State Department maintained its knowledge of level four travel by urging Americans to avoid foreign travel due to COVID-19. And yes, America. It still has its own travel restrictions. For example, Americans are prohibited from entering China, while Chinese citizens are excluded from the United States.
However, it is difficult to escape the concept that until we put our space in order, the rest of the world sees America as a disease-redeemed danger.

I have won several journalism awards and my writings have been published in The Los Angeles Times, American Way, Southwest Airlines Spirit, Meetings Successful and United Hemispheres. At home, at headquarters, I have a handful of credit cards, I’ve spent over six months of my life in Las Vegas hotels, and I’ve edited extensively around the world. However, one of my favorite destinations is Independence, KS, a giant small American town, where my paintings as a playwright were held at the William Inge Festival.
