RECENT DEVELOPMENTS:
Ottawa Public Health’s (OPH) weekly breathing update follows a largely strong trajectory: very high flu trends and low to moderate levels of COVID-19 and RSV.
OPH says the city’s fitness services remain at the highest risk for respiratory illnesses, as has been the case since late August. This will be the case until respiratory illnesses return to low levels.
For the first time since the summer, there are few new respiratory outbreaks in Ottawa’s health facilities, according to OPH. Other categories, such as hospitalizations and positive test results, are not yet low.
Experts recommend that people cough, wear masks, keep their hands and high-touch surfaces clean, stay home when sick, and get COVID and flu shots for themselves and the vulnerable.
Ottawa’s coronavirus-related wastewater had been solid for about a month as of March 10.
OPH stated that this is moderate.
The average weekly test positivity rate in the city is six percent, which is low for OPH.
OPH considers the number of new COVID-related hospitalizations in the city moderate (27).
The number of COVID outbreaks is seven, with a low number of new outbreaks.
No COVID deaths have been reported in the capital. OPH’s next update on COVID vaccination is expected in early April.
The Kingston Area Health Unit is in a high-risk respiratory period. Their tendencies are necessarily stable.
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) assesses overall breathing to be moderate and stable.
The weekly number of Hastings Prince Edward (HPE) COVID hospitals drops to three. Flu activity is low.
Trends in Renfrew County are stable.
Western Quebec has a solid number of 20 hospitalized patients who have been tested for COVID. The province has reported 8 more COVID deaths, bringing the total to seven in 2022.
EOHU reports 4 more deaths related to COVID. Se has reported one more case in Renfrew County and the Kingston area.
The data for Leeds, Grenville and Lanark (LGL) dates back to March 3, when their trends are solid or decreasing.
