England concluded their Euro warm-up matches with a win thanks to the efforts of Alessia Russo, Georgia Stanway and substitutes Beth England and Jill Scott to beat Switzerland 4-0 in Zurich.

The Lionesses went ahead with a header from Russo in the 56th minute when the forward met Rachel Daly’s Delivery.

Stanway then doubled the lead with a penalty in the 74th minute, England nodded two minutes later and Scott then made 4 with his own header in stoppage time.

It was another great performance in the second half from Sarina Wiegman’s side after scoring 3 goals after the break by beating Belgium 3-0 at Molineux in their first warm-up and then 4 in the 5-1 win over the Netherlands at Elland Road. Last week, the substitutes again influenced.

And that’s 12 wins in 14 games without losing to the Dutch for England, who look in very good shape before starting their home crusade for the Euro by facing Austria at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Wiegman made 3 adjustments in his lineup with Russo and Stanway, in addition to Beth Mead, after his double against the Dutch as a substitute.

Among those who left the team Lucy Bronze, sanctioned by illness, while the most sensible scorer Ellen White returned to the team, on the bench, after being absent last time due to coronavirus.

After clearing a Coumba Sow cross in the opening seconds, England were soon on their feet and Fran Kirthrough looked confident of scoring in the fourth minute, but his shot stopped through Seraina Friedli with his leg.

Lauren Hemp then sent a punch into Friedli’s arms, and Russo had his stabbed effort claimed at the time through the goalkeeper on the line.

At the other end, Mary Earps faced a loose shot from Ramona Bachmann and captain Leah Williamson, starting in defence of this attack and then in midfield, effectively defending against Ana-Marie Crnogorcevic as she attempted to head towards goal.

Crnogorcevic then showed off his defensive skills just after half-time with a beautiful header off the line when Daly hooked a corner kick, before failing to convert a beautiful Sandly Maendly cross into the English net at the time of the post.

As the break approached, England had calls that Noelle Maritz had dealt with on the Swiss surface rejected through Spanish referee Ainara Acevedo Dudley.

They then took the lead early in the moment when Williamson played a great ball forward, Daly threw it and Russo sent a header to Friedli and into the net.

Wiegman refreshed things after the hour with a quadruple replacement that included Replacing Russo across England.

Friedli turned away Hemp, Switzerland had a chance with Sow failing to the maximum on a ball at the second post, and England sent a header and saw superbly saved through Friedli.

The then won a penalty from Lara Martí, which Stanway finished off with a forceful shot at the corner.

And moments later, the credit went on for England heading to Stanway’s corner.

Scott signed a time later for his 157th cap and scored in the final seconds, getting closer.
