Emerging Covid cases in Kerala: Measures available to prevent an outbreak in Tennessee, says health minister

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has taken all precautions to tackle a fresh Covid outbreak, if any, in the wake of the recent uptick of infections in neighbouring Kerala and in Singapore, Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Saturday.

Health Ministry officials have been asked to take appropriate measures to curb the spread of the virus and have been warned to conduct RT-PCR tests if fever cases show an increasing trend in a specific area, he stated.

His comments come amid a surge in infection in neighboring Kerala and Singapore.

As of December 15, Tamil Nadu had 36 active cases with a discharge rate of 98. 94 percent. Among Indian states, Kerala has the highest number of infections with 1,144 with a rejection rate of 98. 94 percent, according to Covid data that can be obtained on the central government’s website. .

Asked about the upward trend in the neighboring state, the minister told reporters that fitness officials in Tamil Nadu were in contact with their counterparts in Kerala and were closely monitoring developments.

“When I contacted the National University of Singapore, I told them that this infection was mild and lasted 3 or 4 days. It’s the same in Kerala,” Subramanian said.
