COVID-19 vaccines are coming to Elmo’s World.
Elmo won a COVID-19 vaccine and shared his experience in a video encouraging parents to vaccinate their young children as well, Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit “Sesame Street,” shared Tuesday.
The beloved 3 1/2-year-old red muppet spoke to his father about what it’s like to be shot in a public service announcement posted on YouTube.

Elmo’s father, Louie, said he had many questions for the family’s pediatrician, who confided in him that COVID-19 vaccines are effective for children.

Sesame Workshop created Tuesday’s Elmo public service announcement in collaboration with the Ad Council and the COVID-19 vaccine education initiative of the COVID-19 Collaborative. It was also produced in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Elmo is rarely the only “Sesame Street” star to win a COVID vaccine. Last November, 6-year-old Big Bird also got vaccinated.

The Elmo and Big Bird vaccines have drawn complaints from some conservative politicians.
