Eight other people tested positive for COVID-19 in British Columbia.

BURNABY, British Columbia – A fitness authority has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on a mink farm after eight other people at Fraser Valley Farm in British Columbia tested positive for the disease.

Fraser Health said in a statement that it is looking for other people associated with the unnamed farm.

He says that other people who test positive for COVID-19 or who are close contacts with workers or farmers are ousting themselves.

Fraser Health said fitness authority officials and WorkSafeBC officials are here to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Fraser Health says the British Columbia Health Act has placed mink breeding orders to limit the transportation of animals, goods and products.

In October, Canadian mink breeders announced that they were expanding protection measures on their farms to prevent the devastating COVID-19 outbreaks that have affected their European and American counterparts.

Infections on mink farms in Europe and the United States have shown that animals have COVID-19. Canadian breeders are already suffering from lower skin costs and losses in the Chinese market.

Breeders in Denmark have euthanized 15 million minks due to considerations of a mutated edition of the virus that has spread between animals. Mink farmers in Spain have killed about 100,000 people. In the United States, nearly 10,000 minks across Utah died from COVID. 19 as the virus spread on state farms.
