KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) — EIG, an institutional investor in the electricity sector and one of the world’s leading infrastructure investors, unveiled Grupo Cerro, a new renewable energy platform in Chile.

“Following the final touch and timing of the revolutionary Cerro Dominador solar power plant in 2021, the first CSP assignment in Latin America, this transaction marks a vital milestone in our strategy to invest in high-quality assets, best-in-class groups and strong infrastructure to support Chile’s transition force.
Fernando González, CEO of Grupo Cerro, said: “This transaction advances Chile’s growth.
“These plants, combined with our recently being developed Likana Solar and Pampa Union projects, will help geographically diversify our renewable energy portfolio so that we can further ensure cheap renewable energy generation for the Chilean market and continue to supply blank energy to the country 24 hours a day. day. “
The new entity includes the Cerro Dominador hydroelectric plants owned through EIG and the recently acquired ANPAC, which has a portfolio of 11 small and medium-sized run-of-the-river hydroelectric plants in the regions of O’Higgins, El Maule, Bio Bio and La Araucanía.
According to a statement, ANPAC’s 110 MW portfolio includes plants in operation and projects in structuring and progression stages in the spot and stabilized rate markets.
Following the acquisition, Grupo Cerro now manages more than 280 MW of capacity in Chile, adding Cerro Dominador’s photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) plants.
EIG is headquartered in Washington, D. C. and has offices in Houston, London, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong and Seoul.
