Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry announced on Friday the launch of the Cairo Centre for Learning and Excellence in Adaptation and Resilience to Accelerate Climate Adaptation in Africa.
Addressing the COP27 consultation “Advancing Adaptation Action in Africa,” Shoukry added that the new center aims to develop skills, exchange experiences and conduct educational studies to address climate adaptation issues, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
“We are pleased to have been able to cooperate with the United States last year to prepare an aid program to help Africa implement the climate adaptation program,” Shoukry said.
The United States had contributed $10 million to the Cairo Center.
