EGA CEO thanks the team that led the response to COVID-19

EGA has strictly followed the rules set by the UAE and the Guinean government for its people.

UAE: Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminium, the UAE’s largest commercial corporation outside of oil and gas, today visited the corporation’s medical centre in Al Taweelah to personally thank EGA’s COVID-19 team for their commitment to ensuring the protection of EGA’s workplace.

EGA is a major trading company and a base of the economies of the United Arab Emirates and Guinea. Thousands of EGA workers have remained on site during the pandemic to lead the company’s business operations and ensure the production of the steel the world needs. EGA manufactures one in every 25 tons of aluminum produced worldwide.

EGA has strictly followed the rules set through the Emirati and Guinean government for its people.

In the UAE, EGA medical centres permanently have 65 doctors, nurses and others who are on call 24 hours a day to ensure the protection of people. In reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, EGA has deployed two more doctors groups to perform normal COVID-19 testing on all workers and contractors working at EGA sites in the UAE.

In Guinea, EGA has nearly doubled the length of its medical equipment to care for and treat employees. EGA has also worked with the government to provide neighboring communities with important data on protective measures as well as the hygiene devices they need.

The COVID-19 team was created to monitor the pandemic and consult EGA’s responses to daily adjustments. The covid-19 team’s primary goal was to slow the rate of spread of the virus and flatten the curve, ensuring that adjustments to EGA operations continue to run smoothly on shifts. To date, EGA medical groups have conducted more than 350,000 PCR tests and administered more than 14,000 vaccines to workers and contractors. For more than two years, the COVID-19 team has continued to closely monitor the most recent developments in the pandemic.

In addition, EGA safety groups conducted extensive worker education campaigns, implemented social distancing at all EGA sites, installed disinfection tunnels at six key points, and used more than two hundred disinfection sprinklers to disinfect spaces of EGA facilities.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, chief executive of Emirates Global Aluminium, told the team: “Everyone who painted on site at EGA COVID-19 was a hero, and everyone relied on this team committed to COVID-19 to keep us safe every day. His commitment to his colleagues, despite unprecedented demanding situations and, in many cases, considerations about his own families in the UAE and abroad, has been an inspiration to all of us. On behalf of everyone at EGA, I thank you for your paintings that have allowed us to continue supplying the global with an important steel that makes fashionable life possible, adding as a component of much of the apparatus and infrastructure used to combat the pandemic.

At the beginning of the pandemic, EGA partnered with Bee’ah, DP World and Masdar to launch a Vital Industry COVID-19 Working Group, a coalition of commercial corporations operating in the UAE, convened for percentage practices in managing the global market.
