Chile and Peru appealed to FIFA after discovering that Ecuador had used ineligible right-back Byron Castillo in their successful qualification campaign.
The Chilean Football Federation (ANPF) provided evidence that Castillo was born in Colombia and not in Ecuador, as stated in his official documents.
FIFA rejected all tariffs in June and September when something new came to light, but Chile and Peru took the case to CAS with a new appeal.
However, the hearing that “no violation of eligibility rules occurred” left Ecuador loose to compete in Qatar later this month.
Ecuador, however, will be subtracted 3 points in the qualification for the 2026 tournament after being found guilty of false data to download the passport of a player of Colombian origin.
The South American nation, which will face host Qatar in the tournament’s opening match on Nov. 20, will also face a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs ($101,605).
In a statement posted on its official online website after the verdict was pronounced, the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) said it can appeal the sanctions itself.
“The Ecuadorian Football Federation is analyzing the next steps to follow, so it does not percentage the sanction imposed,” he said.
Castillo made the impression 8 times in the qualifiers of Ecuador, adding his two meetings with Chile, but did not play in either of the two matches against Peru.
Chile argued that Ecuador lost the games Castillo played, after finishing fourth in the CONMEBOL qualifying group, while Peru felt it had replaced Ecuador in Qatar when it finished fifth.
With only 4 groups automatically qualified, Peru qualified for the intercontinental play-offs and was defeated 5-4 by consequences via Australia after a blank draw.
Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay are the other nations representing CONMEBOL at the global flagship event, which runs through Dec. 18.
