EAM Jaishankar starts its first bilateral to Egypt

CAIRO (AP) — Foreign Minister S Jaishankar began his stop in Egypt in the capital Cairo on Saturday, where he met with leading figures in the foreign policy picture.

Jaishankar is on a two-day official trip to Egypt for his first bilateral stop scheduled for Oct. 15-16.

After today’s meeting with the dignitaries, the Minister thanked them for their dating and their concepts on regional and global politics.

“A smart start to my stopover at The Cairo. Me I met with eminent personalities in the field of foreign policy. I thank you for your relationships and your concepts on regional and global politics,” Jaishankar said in a tweet.

During the visit, Minister Jaishankar will discuss a variety of bilateral, regional and foreign issues of mutual interest with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The Foreign Minister will work with the Egypt-based Indian community, add students and bring together the Egyptian and Indian business communities.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) previously said India and Egypt had warm and friendly relations in ancient times, backed by ancient and cultural ties.

The two countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations this year. Egypt was invited as a “guest country” to India’s G20 presidency in 2022-23.

Egypt has been one of India’s largest trading partners in Africa and the promotion of bilateral industry, industry and investment will be one of the priority spaces of the visit. The bilateral industry between India and Egypt reached a record USD 7260 million in fiscal year 2021-22.

Indian investment in Egypt exceeds $3. 15 billion. More than 50 Indian corporations are actively offering in Egypt in one of the sectors like manufacturing, chemical, energy, infrastructure, retail, etc.

Jaishankar’s existing supplies provide an opportunity to review the full diversity of our bilateral and multilateral relations and exchange perspectives with Egyptian leaders on a diversity of issues of common concern, according to MEA.

This is an opportunity to deepen cooperation and explore new projects within the framework of the bilateral partnership.
