Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines said at least some of the passengers would be transported to Britain on chartered planes. Other passengers, who were to board the shipment on Friday in the Dominican Republic, were heading to Saint-Martin to embark.
The Dominican government had banned the shipment due to reports that some of those on board had flu-like illnesses, but the cruise line said none had symptoms consistent with the new virus.
It was one of at least 3 cruisers that were denied access to Caribbean ports in the following week due to considerations of viral infections imaginable, although no passengers from any of the ships have been shown to have the disease.

The Greater Latin America region has reported several other cases of COVID-19 disease since the middle of the week. Mexico reported 4 cases, Brazil two and Ecuador one, all involving other people who had recently traveled to Europe.
