SANTO DOMINGO.- President Luis Abinader said he was aware that economic recovery is not easy, as the budget deficit is greater this week through about 25 billion pesos.
He argued that public debt levels, even before the pandemic, had reached the bound of recklessness, after noting that the government’s consolidated debt had doubled during the decade.
In his swearing speech, Abinader said there had not been an accumulation in the welfare of citizens in the recent past, but that there had been a build-up of public debt and deficit.
“This is the situation we face today, it’s the balance we’ve found, a balance we’re firmly committed to reversing, the quality of spending and the elimination of waste and corruption,” the president said.

In another order, Luis Abinader announced that he would expand the Stay at Home and FACE systems until December, for the maximums affected by COVID-19.
In this regard, it indicated that concurrent tax amenities would be extended, for small and medium-sized enterprises.
