MANILA, Philippines – The Ministry of Health has recorded 4,933 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total number of coronavirus infections in the Philippines to 187,249.
The death toll from COVID-19 is now 2966 deaths with 26 reported deaths.
The DOH reported that there were 69362 active instances of COVID-19, which were collected from tests conducted through 97 of the 109 operational molecular laboratories across the country.
The metropolitan domain of Manila recorded the number of new cases with 2,316 or 58 in line with the percentage of new infections reported in the country.
This followed Calabarzon with 826 and Central Luzon with 242.
During validation, the DOH also discovered 49 duplicates that were removed from the total number of instances, adding 15 recovered instances.
The new coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2, guilty of COVID-19, first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019.
The virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough, in most people, and causes serious illnesses such as pneumonia in the elderly and others with existing fitness problems.
