DOH: Most COVID-19s belong to the running age group

MANILA, Philippines – Most cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 belong to the “productive age group” or are from the workforce, the Ministry of Fitness said Friday.

“The number of loose page cases in NASA’s productive age group. Nandoon siya is between 20 and 59 years old,” he told reporters at an online media forum.

“Ito ‘yung running natin kasi sila’ yung lumalabas, nagta-trabaho, babalik sa pamilya, magkakasakit, mai-infect ‘yung iba,” Vergeire added.

(This is the group of runners. They leave their homes to move to work, then pass through the house and infect other members of the family circle.)

It also provided a breakdown of youth and older adult instances:

The increasing number of cases among young people and other young people may be due to the fact that they are inflamed by a circle of family members going to work, the fitness officer assumed.

“Some families are young, so maaari na pag umuwi sila (working group), maaaring naapektuhan ‘yung mga robe and nai-infect’,” Vergeire said.

As of August 14, there were 147,526 COVID-19s in the country, with 70,387 cures and 2,426 deaths.
