DOH: Batanes is no longer Covid, now all PHL provinces have Covid instances

After 8 months without Covid, Batanes province reported on Tuesday its first case, a blocked individual who recently returned to the province.

“The case of Covid-19 in Batanes has still been officially reported to DOH (database of 29 September 2020), however, we have coordinated with the relevant Health Development Centre (CHD) to obtain the relevant information. With Batanes recording a case shown, this means that all provinces have/have had instances of Covid-19,” said the Ministry of Health.

All provinces have reported at least one new case in the 28 days, the DOH said.

“The definition of a disease-free zone is based on explained parameters, which are still well explained for Covid,” the DOH added.

However, the DOH that indicator it monitors is “the absence of a new case shown in the last 28 days”.

“We are also tracking whether all instances reported in the past have been recovered, whether other Covid-19 instances have been released and reintegrated, and whether close contacts have turned 40. “
