DOH admits to :’Many gaps’ in COVID-19 reaction

MANILA, Philippines – The Ministry of Health admitted Wednesday that there had been “many gaps” in its handling of the 2019 coronavirus crisis (COVID-19), but added that the errors were not limited to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

“The secretary has worked very hard from the beginning. He was able to advise the entire DOH on this response,” vergeire said.

The official also said it would be disadvantageous for him and the country to replace the direction of the fitness branch in the middle of the pandemic.

He said “we’ll all have to move on,” helping each other and taking on our individual daily work to stop the spread of the virus.

“We, the secretary. His leadership has taken us to where we are now, where we have already done so much for this response,” Vergeire said.

Amid public complaint of the Philippines’ reaction efforts to involve COVID-19, he also said that no government had prepared for the pandemic.

“So I hope we all move forward, each other and help each other so that we can slow down the transmission and save them an additional increase in the number of instances in the coming days. Array,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte has defended Duke amid a call for resignation from the secretary of fitness, saying Duke “didn’t matter COVID.”

On Tuesday, Senator Nancy Binay said, “It’s time for the clerk to discuss whether he can do the job.”
