“Right now, we’re seeing a ton of RSV, rhinoviruses, that are pretty sick,” Dr. Brown said. Meeta Shah, emergency physician and telehealth team member at Rush University Medical Center.
“What I love about telehealth is that it’s about talking to patients,” Dr. Shah said.
And that’s how doctors have become so smart at diagnosing annoying viruses.
The cost savings for patients are huge, compared to emergency care.
“Savings for a patient can range from $175 to just over $1,000,” Dr. Shah said.
She imagines that patients will have many of their computers at home, so you can check your important symptoms as soon as you log in.
“Maybe it’s anything to look inside the ears, check oxygen saturation even with virtual stethoscopes. “
Right now, Rush University Medical Center offers virtual tours, even if you’re not already a patient.
Appointments can also be scheduled with the MyChart app or online tool.
