LAS CRUCES – Doa Ana County on Monday reported its youngest death from the new coronavirus, while state fitness officials said the death toll in the county had increased to two.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported 73 new coronavirus cases on August 31, including 8 new cases in Doa Ana County, where the total number of cases is now 2,827. The state also reported nine more virus-like deaths, two of which were reported in Doa Ana County.
The county now has 43 coronavirus deaths. The 42nd death would have been a woman in her 40s who was not hospitalized and had no underlying fitness problems.
She is the youngest user in the county known to have died as a result of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus and the first victim of Doa Ana County who was not hospitalized or had underlying situations before her death.
The county’s 43rd death, also reported through NMDOH on Monday, a woman in her 60s who had been hospitalized and had underlying fitness problems.
The number of coronavirus cases in New Mexico 25352 as of August 31, with 779 deaths.
Approximately part of those c – 12,913 – are designated as recovered. As of August 31, 65 patients were hospitalized throughout the state.
