DMW: Hungary, Portugal, Romania able to rent OFW

MANILA, Philippines — Highly professional Filipino staff (OFW) will have more market functions next year, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced yesterday.

Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople said Hungary, Portugal and Romania have spoken out in hiring Filipino workers.

“These countries should start bilateral talks with the Philippine government as early as the first quarter of 2023,” Ople said.

She said those markets are “quite safe” for OFWs and would be covered by bilateral agreements.

Germany and South Korea also need to hire more Filipino workers, according to Ople. In addition to nurses, Ople said Germany wants plumbers and service workers.

“There is a call for professional workers. Hindi lang for domestic workers,” he said.

Ople said the DMW would allocate 1. 2 billion pesos in investment next year to OFW’s record struggling demands that oppose offending employers.
