Regional schools paint primarily to be transparent with COVID-19 statistics on campus to inform their communities of the number of positive instances they have. But everything.
The researcher contacted the University of Cincinnati, Xavier, Miami, Northern Kentucky, Thomas More University, Mount St. Joseph and the state of Cincinnati and asked them how they would keep their campuses up to date on COVID-19.
Here’s what we learned:
The UC Public Health website, which was launched in March and includes a COVID panel, is located in www.uc.edu/publichealth.
According to spokesman M.B. Reilly, you must have a banner link to the site on top of each of the UC Internet pages in the university’s virtual environment.
Reilly added that the content is also presented in mass and targeted emails, newsletters, social media, virtual events, fitness events, signage, wellness programming, virtual meetings, Q&A sessions for students, teachers and parents, etc.
Xavier’s COVID panel is updated in www.xavier.edu/go back-to-campus/health-wellness-safety/covid-dashboard. The Return to Campus (https://www.xavier.edu/go back-to-campus/) online page has been underway since the beginning of summer with details on Xavier’s return to school in person.
Xavier has posted updated data on COVID on social media, in emails to students and staff, and in normal communications with parents. Spokesman Doug Ruschman said he organized some online video sessions at City Hall this summer and exploring more.
Positive Miami cases are tracked in your COVID dashboard at www.miamioh.edu/healthy-together/status-updates/dashboard, which is hosted on your Healthy Together website, which can be found on your COVID-19 website, www. miamioh.edu/coronavirus.
NKU has an online page on preparation for COVID-19, www.nku.edu/covid19. Recently, it introduced a new COVID-19 (www.nku.edu/covid19/statistics) regional statistics board that provides information on the number of cases, transmission rates, and trends in northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.
NKU publishes a dashboard with express knowledge similar to your campus. NKU has 3 instances in the state knowledge base.
“We are in the process of following Kentucky’s new request for a report with percentage numbers with the governor’s office,” spokesman Atley Smedley said. “We are waiting for an explanation from the Commonwealth of some details.”
In a FAQ section for academics and staff, NKU wrote:
“Unlike maximum universities that have positive verification results, NKU has a regional student population with proportionally fewer academics in residence. Currently, less than a third of our courses have a face-to-face component and only 18% of them are completely face-to-face. And many of our teachers and paintings partially or completely remotely. Therefore, knowing how many other NKU-affiliated people have tested positive is probably not useful information, as most NKU members do not come to campus or come to campus only intermittently. “
TMU has a COVID panel in www.thomasmore.edu/covid-19/healthy-thomas-more/healthy-at-thomas-more-plan/covid-19-dashboard.
Spokeswoman Rebecca Stratton said a form is sent every Monday through President Joseph L. Chillo to the campus community. This email highlights guideline updates, protection reminders, and handles all positive cases in college. The main points of the case are presented in the form of a student or employee, the date of the report, the date the user last arrived at the campus and their impact on campus, that is, the movements made through that user and the University.
He also stores data on social media and on his COVID website, www.thomasmore.edu/COVID-19.
Mount St. Joe has not recently posted the statistical knowledge of COVID-19 on its online page or on social media, according to spokesman Greg Greene. He said this is because MSJ performs a tactile search and offers house isolation commands to anyone on campus exposed to or potentially exposed to COVID-19.
Green said MSJ asks for daily fitness checks for anyone entering campus and for students in the apartment before leaving their bedroom every morning. This procedure allows tactile search and notification activation to employees, academics, and visitors when exposed or potentially exposed to COVID-19 on campus. The notification is made electronically or by telephone to the individual.
Updated COVID data can be obtained in www.cincinnatistate.edu/COVID-19, but the school does not publish instances or positive statistics. Spokesman Richard Curtis said he would directly tell academics and workers potentially affected by COVID-19 exposure on campus.
He added: “As a suburban school with most of its fall categories presented online, the state of Cincinnati uses communication protocols to keep members of our network informed, respect the medical confidentiality of academics and employees, and respect our legal responsibility to make a contribution to the region’s efforts to collect and speak data.
“The state of Cincinnati reports COVID-19 activity at one of its sites and campuses to the appropriate state and local authorities, if necessary.”
