Under the Dhamani scheme, workers in the personal sector and their dependents will be covered by compulsory fitness insurance.
The implementation of the mandatory fitness insurance plan for the personal sector, also known as “Dhamani,” will begin in 2023, according to a senior fitness sector official.
Dr. Waleed al Zadjali, President of the Oman Medical Association (OMCO), made the announcement at a press conference on the upcoming Oman Health Expo and Conference (OHEC).
He said the program will be rolled out in stages to cover other categories of corporations operating in the Sultanate of Oman.
Under the Dhamani scheme, personal sector workers and their dependents will be covered through compulsory health insurance. Tourists and visitors to Oman will also be affected by the program.
Health insurance is one of the fastest developing segments of the insurance industry in the Sultanate of Oman. According to the audited financial statements of the insurance industry, health insurance premiums increased by 5. 6% to RO 164 million in 2021, and the reimbursement price similar to the fitness insurance business decreased by 0. 5% to reach RO 120 million. Knowledge also showed an 88% increase in fitness insurance policies to 23,000 policies.
Also participating in Monday’s press conference were Dr. Rashid al-Abri, WCO Vice-President and Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Oman Health Conference; and Maha al-Maskari, Head of Risk Management, General Directorate of Private Health Facilities (Ministry of Health).
It has been that the Oman Health Exhibition and Conference (OHEC) is scheduled to take position from 26 to 28 September 2022 at the Omani Convention.
The event, organized through CONNECT (Oman Exhibitions Organizing Company LLC) and held in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Oman (MoH), will be supported by the General Directorate of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control (PADC), the General Directorate of the Quality Assurance Center (DGQAC) and the General Directorate of Private Health Facilities. The Oman Health Conference organized through the Oman Medical Association (OMCO), which is accredited through the Oman Board of Medical Specialties (OMSB) and CPD certification, will co-host the event. Cigna, the leading insurance and healthcare company, will be the Silver Sponsor of the event.
The exhibition schedule is from 9:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. , while the convention will conform to a predefined program from 9:00 a. m. to 4:15 p. m. during the 3 days. The exhibition has registered more than 150 local and foreign exhibitors and plans to receive more than 5,000 visitors.
According to Dr. Waleed al Zadjali, the convention will come with presentations on a variety of topics of importance to health care, in addition to improving medical services, the long term of medicine, quality in hospitals, the treatment of critical and emergency cases and anesthesia in surgery. .
Other presentations will focus on the importance of virtual equipment and electronic devices in improving fitness services, reducing errors, maintaining effective patient documentation and remediating protocols.
