New Delhi: With India reporting a backlog of covid cases in recent weeks, the government has ordered six states to review the scenario at the micro point and compliance, such as monitoring, testing and tracking new and emerging covid clusters.
India has noticed an increase in covid cases in recent weeks. A total of 2082 instances were reported in the week ending March 8, but increased to 3264 instances in the week ending March 15.
Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the six states that have reported the highest number of cases.
“Few states report higher numbers of cases indicating possible localized spread of infection and there is a need to stick to a risk-based approach to save it and involve infection without squandering the gains made so far in fighting the pandemic. “” said the Union’s fitness secretary. Rajesh Bhushan.
Karnataka reported a weekly caseload of 493 in the week ending March 8 to 604 cases in the week ending March 15. The state reported a positivity rate of 2. 77%, which is higher than India’s positivity rate of 0. 61% in the same period.
“The State is requested to review the COVID-19 scenario at the micro point (district and subdistricts) and focus on implementing mandatory measures for the timely and effective control of Covid-19 through due monitoring of effective compliance with the notices issued through this Ministry. The five-pronged strategy, i. e. Test-Track Treat-Vaccination, deserves to be followed by concentrating on sufficiently good and proactive testing according to guidelines, tracking new and emerging clusters of new Covid-19 cases, as well as tracking the trend of influenza-like illness (ILI).
Maharashtra reported a backlog in weekly instances of 355 to 668 with a positivity rate of 1. 92%. Gujarat noted an accumulation in weekly instances of 105 to 279 with a positivity rate of 1. 11% and on the other hand, Kerala reported an accumulation in weekly instances of 434 to 579 with a positivity rate of 2. 64%.
According to the Ministry of Health, Telangana reported an accumulation in weekly instances of 132 to 267 and a positivity rate of 0. 31%, while Tamil Nadu reported a cumulative in weekly instances of 170 to 258 with a positivity rate of 1. 99%.
The ministry further directed states to continue genomic sequencing of prescribed samples from foreign passengers, collecting samples from sentinel sites (identified fitness facilities) and local clusters of cases, increasing the speed of recall management for all eligible beneficiaries, and ensuring that the state maintains strict oversight at all speeds of fear of the emerging spread of the infection.
In addition, others were asked to maintain appropriate behavior, especially in enclosed spaces and crowded areas.
