Death of Indian-born student-athlete in Singapore linked to Covid vaccine, says Health Ministry

Singapore: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has rejected the hypothesis that the death of a 14-year-old student of Indian origin at a primary sports school in Singapore earlier this week is related to Covid-19 vaccination.

This is “false and irresponsible,” the newspaper TODAY reported, citing the ministry’s statements on Saturday.

High school second-grade student and athlete Pranav Madhaik died Wednesday after feeling unwell in a 400-meter time trial on Oct. 5.

On Saturday afternoon, the college revealed that the cause of death was cardiac arrest with a congenital malformation of the coronary vessels as the past cause.

“According to the Ministry of Health’s vaccination records, he received his last dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine more than 18 months ago,” the ministry said.

“For an unvaccinated person, the threat of Covid-19 infection leading to severe illness outweighs that of vaccination. “

In a news release on Saturday, the Singapore Sports School said Pranav told the badminton coach he was not feeling well after completing a 400-meter time trial around 6:26 p. m. on October 5.

The coach told him to rest and the boy did so at the edge of the track’s starting point while the coach dealt with time trial knowledge on his phone.

The coach then left the court to tell the other scholars about the themes of the festival, unaware that Pranav was still resting in the same place. He then left the school premises after the briefing.

The young man interacted with two other teams of scholars before he was spotted by an athletic and boxing coach. After receiving water, the trainer found that Pranav had difficulty getting up, even with help.

An ambulance called and his parents were alerted. The badminton coach returned to accompany Pranav to the hospital.

The coach noticed the termination.

“It was discovered that the badminton coach checked Pranav to make sure of his well-being before leaving the court. “

“Failed to report on all of its student-athletes before dismissing them from training, which is not in line with the school’s protective protocols,” the school said, according to TODAY.
