BOSTON (CBS) – Former Red Sox toletero David Ortiz is recovering from a coronavirus, so he made the announcement in the red-Yankees Sox game broadcast on Friday night.
In the fourth inning, Ortiz, a guest of his home in the Dominican Republic, said he was asymptomatic and passed his last check-up on Thursday, which turned out to be negative.
He told Dan Roche of WBZ-TV that he “felt good. “

His brother also had Covid-19 and spent a week in the hospital, so he lost 25 pounds. There have been more than 106,000 cases of the virus in the Dominican Republic.
Last year, Ortiz was seriously injured after being shot in the back while in the Dominican Republic, and brought him back to Boston where he underwent several surgeries.
