MILAN – Italy recorded 11,705 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Fitness announced on Sunday, and the 10925 record was released on Saturday.
There were also 69 COVID-related deaths, compared to 47 the previous day, the ministry said, much less than at the height of the Italian pandemic in March and April, when deaths peaked at more than 900.
Italy is the first country in Europe to be severely affected by COVID-19 and has the highest death toll in the region after Britain, with 36,543 deaths since the February outbreak, according to official figures.
