Cyclone Sitrang crossed the Bangladeshi coast between Tinkona and Sandwip near Barisal on Monday night and weakened into a depression. It crossed the coast with a maximum sustained wind speed of 80 to 90 km per hour with gusts of up to 100 km per hour. and also brought widespread rainfall and strong winds to the coast of West Bengal.
As of Tuesday morning, the remnant of Cyclone Sitrang 90 km north-northeast of Agartala and 100 km south-southwest of Shillong. It will most likely continue to move north-northeast and weaken in a domain of low strong tension on Tuesday, but bring isolated heavy to very heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
