A majority of the electorate says they will likely seek the newest Covid-19 vaccine, according to a new vote via POLITICO and Morning Consult. The findings come just days after the CDC approved the latest shot and amid emerging Covid cases and hospitalizations, POLITICO’s Adam Cancryn reports. .
Why it matters: The 57% who will “probably” or “definitely” get vaccinated imply that a significant portion of the population remains open to vaccines, even when subject to political attacks and misinformation.
In numbers: Nearly 8 in 10 Democrats, or 79%, say they will “definitely” or “probably” get the new vaccine. But only 39 percent of Republicans expect to receive this new version, reflecting the deep political divide that has existed. has hampered the Covid reaction in recent years. The vote also revealed that a bloc of Republicans strongly opposed vaccination: 44% said they would “definitely” not get vaccinated. 17% say they “probably wouldn’t look for it. “
Only 17 Americans received the vaccine last year, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
New barriers: For the first time, the federal government is ceding much of the responsibility for distributing vaccines to the personal sector, amplifying the threat of confusion as fitness providers and patients adapt to a new system. The launch also comes as Republican presidential candidates. . . and Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – demonstrate their opposition to Covid precautions. On Wednesday, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo warned healthy adults in their 65s about the newly approved Covid vaccine.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has ended the first three-month pause in its e-health care modernization project, a senior VA official said Thursday, but there is still no public timeline for the program’s resumption, and disruptions persist. . Ben reports.
The first step focused on making plans and achieving stability, Dr. Neil Evans, director of the VA’s EHR project, said Thursday at a hearing of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. He reiterated the VA’s commitment to publish a timeline that it will adhere to once the program restarts. It is complete. The program exceeds the budget by billions, is delayed indefinitely, and is linked to the deaths of several veterans.
Problems persist: Dr. Meredith Arensman, a senior official at a facility in Columbus, Ohio, VA, who has been using Oracle Cerner’s formula since May 2022, said it doesn’t offer significant innovations in power or security.
“Our doctors are exhausted, crying and frankly distraught about not being able to provide the point of care that they may have provided in 2019,” Arensman said, pointing to the monthly outages. He said providers receive weekly error messages from patients. They had never seen him. Evans said Oracle Cerner and VA are racing to fix the problem.
Arensman said system problems may simply hamper efforts to obtain benefits for veterans in the event of exposure to poisonous chemicals under the PACT Act.
Other senior managers at the formula sites said productivity had remained below baseline levels. Scott Kelter, director of the VA Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington, said that with the new formula, processes that in the past required six to 10 clicks now require 30 to 50.

BERNIE MAKES A DEAL, BUT NOT WITH CASSIDY – SENATE HELP President Bernie Sanders (I-Vt. ) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan. ) agreed to legislation to increase investment in health care number one and alleviate the shortage of hard work, Daniel. POLITICO’s Payne reports.
The compromise bill comes after months of hearings and negotiations in Congress over fitness shortages and deficiencies in the number one care formula and increases investment far more than several previous plans.
But Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee member Bill Cassidy (R-La. ) opposed the measure, calling it “inconclusive” and questioning his plans to fund the funding expansion.
What’s there: The law would provide $5. 8 billion a year for the 3-year fitness center network and $3 billion for structure and renovation, and add 700 number one residential care spaces. It would also reauthorize the National Health Service Corps to the song of only about a billion dollars a year.
For the workforce, it would provide $1. 2 billion for nursing education systems over two years to increase class size and hire an additional 60,000 nurses, as well as $300 million for the practice of top care physicians.
And then: the HELP committee will read about the bill on September 21.
THE PATH FORWARD FOR A HOUSE EFFORT TO ADDRESS DRUG SHORTAGES REMAINS UNCLEAR AFTER A HEARING Thursday of the subcommittee on health, energy and trade, POLITICO’s David Lim reports, especially amid an investment war that overshadows the conclusion of bipartisan agreements.
The hearing follows a failed attempt by committee Democrats to convince Republicans before the August recess to include the drug shortage law in the committee’s bill to reauthorize pandemic preparedness programs.
The president of E.
The committee’s more sensible leaders have indicated they are willing to work toward a bipartisan drug shortage package, but the hearing did not provide much clarity on what a compromise would look like.
“It has to be done this year,” said Anna Eshoo (D-Calif. ), a member of Subcommittee E.

HHS AGAINST. HHS plans to finalize its new clinical integrity policy and other projects to prevent political interference in fitness decisions early next year, according to a Government Accountability Office report, Chelsea reports.
The report, released Thursday, is the latest in an effort by the GAO to help fitness agencies avoid political tensions in their decision-making after allegations of such tension were made during the pandemic.
Background: The GAO reported in 2022 that its interviews with CDC, FDA, and NIH officials revealed that they had observed moments of political interference that could have compromised the clinical integrity of the Covid-19 response.
These cases range from the FDA’s initial emergency use authorization of hydroxychloroquine, following then-President Donald Trump’s comments about its effectiveness, to allegations that political tension led the CDC to lift its mask mandate for vaccinated people in May 2021 before reversing the ruling in May 2021. July 2021.
In 2022, the GAO asked HHS to expand procedures for reporting and addressing allegations of political interference and convened a specialized roundtable to delve deeper into how CDC, FDA, NIH, and the Strategic Preparedness and Response Administration can better protect themselves from interference.
According to the new report, HHS’s updated clinical integrity policy will come with transparent procedures for reporting and dealing with allegations of political interference, with a new reporting portal in the works. The ministry has also appointed an interim clinical integrity officer and is executing clinical integrity exercise workers.
However, “no company is absolutely immune from political influence and appointed and elected political officials have an appropriate role in the company’s processes,” the GAO wrote in its report, meaning that while an elected official may inspire the progress of a project, they may not be able to exert influence that could compromise clinical integrity.
The CTC released a report Thursday concluding that two cases of Legionnaires’ disease, a severe bacterial pneumonia, were likely headaches from two lung transplants from the same donor, Katherine reports.
Two patients at a Pennsylvania hospital developed the infection in June 2022. Both had obtained a lung from a donor who drowned in a river, a common environment for Legionella bacteria. One patient survived after treatment, but the other died six months later.
The CDC said those cases highlight the importance of the lungs before transplant when a donor death occurs from drowning in fresh water.

Insurance corporations and pharmacy advantage managers (PBMs) put your profits before your health. This is because larger PBMs own or belong to the largest insurance corporations, and they also own pharmacies. First, the PBM would possibly deny you the policy for your drugs in favor of a drug that makes them more money. Then you are directed to the pharmacy you own. Without you knowing why all this happens. See what else they do.
