MANILA, Philippines – The total number of cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines reached more than 205,000 after 3,249 new infections were recorded Thursday through the Ministry of Health (DOH).
The metropolitan area of Manila, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, registered the highest number of new cases with 1,584; followed by Cavite with 147; Laguna with 143; Western Negros with 140 and Batangas with 123.
The DOH recorded 566 new recoveries, bringing the total number of patients actually recovered to 133,990.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths in the country increased to 3,234 after new deaths were recorded.
The ministry said that 29 duplicates of the total number of cases had been undone, of which 12 recoveries were eliminated.
The DOH also noted that in the past there were 24 cases reported as cured, but then they were known as fatal after the final validation.
