Specialists warn of “unstable situation”
Israel on Friday reported a dramatic increase in the number of critical Covid patients, as the pandemic recovers in the Jewish state.
Some 140 Israelis were in critical condition on Friday, an increase of nearly 70 percent from last week.
On Thursday, more than seven thousand new instances were confirmed, with a replication rate (the number of other people expected to infect an average operator) at 1. 31.
“The knowledge obviously implies that the virus remains active in the community,” Prof. Cyrille Cohen, an expert in immune formulas, from Bar Ilan University, told the Ynet news site.
“The telltale sign is the number of patients in serious condition, because we know that many cases go unnoticed because other people who don’t have symptoms don’t get tested,” he added.
“What determines government policy is not so much the number of patients shown as the status of the seriously ill. We want to see if they are experiencing the disease more severely, and if we will want to prepare to reopen the coronavirus this summer. “
