COVID is up 36% from last week

Coronavirus cases in the Philippines rose 36 percent to 1,821, according to the Department of Health, which also recorded thirteen new COVID-19 deaths.

The 1,821 new infections, which brought the number of active COVID cases in the country to 3,876, were recorded between Dec. 5 and Dec. 11, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

Last week, the health government recorded 1,340 cases.

The daily average cases this week was 260, the agency said.

As of Dec. 10, 228 patients with severe COVID-19 have been admitted to hospitals, the Health Ministry said.

COVID bed occupancy rates in intensive care and non-intensive care were 13. 6 percent and 16. 5 percent, respectively, it adds.

Last week, the fitness government reported on COVID cases in the Philippines and suggested adherence to fitness measures such as wearing a mask and getting vaccinated.

The Philippines has vaccinated at least 78 million people who oppose COVID-19, while 23 million have received their coronavirus booster shots.

Some 7. 1 million seniors have received their first coronavirus vaccine, the DOH said.
