The state and parts of the valley have noticed a slight buildup of new COVID-19 infections since the beginning of July.
The number of COVID-19 instances in the Trumbull County Combined Health District that the county saw 154 new instances reported the week of June 27, 262 new instances the week of July 4, and 268 instances the week of July 11.
The BA-5 variant of the virus is thought to be to blame.
The contagious strain is linked to 78 new infections in the U. S. This is the U. S. over the past week, representing an increase of 10 according to the CDC.
Mahoning County has not noticed such an acute build-up in reported cases, however, a prominent doctor in the valley says they are now seeing more in local hospitals.
“We’re nowhere near the numbers we had in January 2022 or at some of the peaks of 2021, but we’re seeing an increase, so we’re going to closely track the knowledge and number of patients we have in hospitals,” said Dr. James Kravec, clinical director of Mercy Health.
Data from Ohio’s coronavirus wastewater tracking network shows a very extensive buildup over the past two weeks thanks to testing at warren’s Department of Pollution Control.
Higher degrees of virus have been detected in the wastewater of Warren, Warren Township, Lordstown, Champion and Howland. State fitness officials use this approach to track the spread of the virus and assess the spread in the community, as many other people are testing for covid. -19 at home.
Dr. Kravec believes that covid will be with us from now on. He says it’s possible a booster will be launched for those already vaccinated this fall.
“As we enter the fall, we will see more cases, but it will happen,” Kravec said.
It’s going from season to season, month to month, year to year, as we go through this and I think covid is here to stay as a virus in our community. “
He recommends that other people get vaccinated if they haven’t. Remind others to stay home if they are sick, get tested to see if they self-isolate, and practice personal hygiene.
Anyone who has a physical health problem or considerations should talk to their doctor about any other precautions.
The Trumbull County Combined Health District and the Mahoning County Department of Public Health continue vaccination clinics for the public.
