Indiana reported 11,371 new coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, July 17, up from 11,173 last week.
Indiana ranked 40th among states where the coronavirus, the virus that causes COVID-19, spread the fastest according to the same time, according to a study by the USA TODAY network of data from Johns Hopkins University. Over the past week, coronavirus cases in the U. S. have been reported. The U. S. has a 29% higher rate since last week, with 947,862 cases reported. With 2. 02 percent of the nation’s population, Indiana recorded 1. 2 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, 42 states had more cases in the past week than in the past week.
The July 4 holiday interrupted who checked, when other people were checked, and when the effects of the test and deaths were reported. This can particularly skew comparisons from week to week.
Delaware County has reported 148 cases and four deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 162 cases and no deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 26,391 cases and 453 deaths.
Randolph County has reported cases and one death in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 39 cases and no deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 6,123 cases and 149 deaths.
Henry County has reported 102 and no deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 126 and two deaths. Throughout the pandemic, it has reported 13,781 and 234 deaths.
Blackford County has reported 21 cases and no deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 17 cases and no deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 3276 cases and deaths.
Jay County has reported 46 cases and no deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 32 cases and no deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 5,039 cases and deaths.
In Indiana, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Posey County with 405 cases per 100,000 per week; Knox County with 369; and Wayne County with 345. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the highest levels of network transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
Marion County, with 1508 instances, added the maximum number of new instances overall; Lake County, with 772 instances; and Vanderburgh County, with 621. The highest weekly number of cases in 50 counties from last week. Last week’s worst speed increases occurred in Wayne, Tippecanoe and Vanderburgh counties.

Across Indiana, cases fell in 41 counties, with the most productive declines in St. Joseph, with 338 cases to 450 the previous week; in Allen County, with 561 out of 647 cases; and Monroe County, with 176 out of 235 instances.
In Indiana, another 52 people were reported to have died from COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 66 people died.
A total of 1,798,430 more people in Indiana have tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 24,000 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 89,542,107 more people tested positive and 1,023,799 more people died.
