New coronavirus cases surged in Michigan in the week ending July 31, up 19. 5 as 19,653 cases were reported. Last week there were 16,445 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Michigan ranked 33rd among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. beyond the week, with 906,593 cases reported. In Michigan, cases fell in 18 counties, with the most productive declines in Isabella County, from 40 cases to 57 the week before; in the Algiers branch, with 7 out of 22 instances; and Gogebic County, with 41 out of 56 instances.

In Michigan, another 137 people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending July 31. Last week, another 149 people were reported to have died.

A total of another 2,672,312 people in Michigan have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 37,428 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
