Covid highlights: India 163 new cases, 2 deaths in 24 hours

India recorded 163 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative coronavirus count to 4. 46 crore (4,46,79,924), according to data updates from the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.  

With this, the number of active instances fell to 2,423. Active cases constitute 0. 01% of the total infections. A minimum of 86 cases were recorded in the number of active cases of Covid-19 in a span of 24 hours.

The death toll stands at 5,30,720, with two cumulative deaths in Kerala, according to the data updated at 8 am. The national Covid-19 recovery rate rose to 98. 80 percent, the ministry said.

The number of people cured of the disease amounted to 4,41,46,781, while the case fatality rate was 1. 19 percent.

According to the ministry’s website, 220. 13 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country as a component of the national vaccination drive.

India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It crossed 60 lakh on September 28 and 70 lakh on October 11. it crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and crossed the one crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim 4 crore mark on January 25 last year.
