RECENT DEVELOPMENTS:
The prevalence of respiratory illnesses has remained high in recent days on the eve of the end-of-year holidays.
According to the most recent figures, COVID rates in Ottawa remain stable, albeit very high. Influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) activity is also high.
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) says the city’s health care services remain the top risk for respiratory illnesses, as they have since early September and are expected to remain that way until at least March.
Experts recommend that people cough, wear a mask indoors, in crowded places and around high-risk people, keep hands and high-touch surfaces clean, stay home when sick, and get vaccinated against COVID and flu to help protect themselves and others. that are vulnerable. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) says the current scenario poses a moderate threat of respiratory illness. Initial levels of COVID and influenza are high, while other respiratory infections are moderate.
The average COVID positivity in Renfrew County is solid at 25 percent.
Hastings Prince Edward (HPE) Public Health says 18 percent of its citizens have received a COVID vaccine in the past six months.
Hospitalizations and deaths
EOHU has 30 COVID-related hospitalizations, up from 19 a week ago.
The Kingston Region Health Unit says it has 28 active COVID-19 patients in its hospitals, adding to those living in some other fitness unit. This figure will be very high and will increase.
HPE, like Ottawa, provides a weekly COVID hospital average. That number rose to 23, its highest average of the year.
Renfrew County Health Unit reports a solid number of six hospitalized COVID patients.
Western Quebec has a solid number of 83 hospitalized patients who have been tested for COVID.
The province reported 3 more deaths in western Quebec in its weekly update, as did the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark County Health Unit (LGL). The EOHU reported one week.
LGL’s data dates back to Dec. 10, when its trends were high.
