Potsdam, NY, 22 September 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Students in Clarkson University’s Aircraft Structure Analysis course will gain advantages from an exciting new facet of the course, connected to a replacement approach to delivering the required course through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The AE350 course is taught online this semester, so assistant professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering Craig Merrett has redesigned the course to provide opportunities for junior aeronautical engineers to feel more connected to each other and to the aerospace community at large.
For more than 4 years, AE 350 categories have implemented structural analysis to an aircraft in a one-semester organizational assignment with academic organizations that read another aircraft.
This year, Merrett stepped forward in this facet of the online edition of elegance to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, and recruited 10 aeronautical museums in the United States and Canada. to participate in organizational projects by providing an aircraft from their World War II collection to an organization to analyze.
Students will interact with museum curators and recovery experts to be informed about the history of each aircraft and gather technical knowledge to complete their analysis.
“The ability of academics to associate a real-world app with their education only makes learning more exciting, but it also creates skills that will be needed for a talented long-term workforce,” says Catherine Gonzalez, director of education at the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
Merrett says the assignment will allow academics to expand their structural research skills for a genuine aircraft and their communication skills for a technical and non-technical audience. “Our academics will also feel more connected at a time when many can be limited to a few rooms,” he adds.
“Associating our Avro Lancaster KB882, a World War II veteran and postwar photographic recognition, with academics is an exciting new opportunity for us,” says Laura Imrie, curator of the National Museum of the Canadian Air Force. The studies and studies of academics will allow us to better perceive the physical design of our Lancaster and how it was affected through its service in the CRA and the next static exhibition. Most museums interact with K-12 categories and have never interacted with a university engineering program before, so they are eager to explore the new educational opportunity.

YArray; and the Air Museum Plans of Fame, Chino, California.
Several museums, such as the U. S. National Air Force Museum and the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, will unite with elegance when they provide their assignment in October.
