COVID: $5 billion invested in new vaccines and treatments

The U. S. Department of Health and Human Servicesis in the midst of Covid-19 as the country enters a new phase of the pandemic.

A senior management official said DHS is launching a $5 billion investment to expand new types of vaccines and treatments. This is called the NextGen project.

The government is looking to get ahead of the evolving coronavirus.

Researchers hope the next generation of vaccines can prevent infection before it has a chance to get sick.

This comes as the Covid-19 public fitness emergency will end on May 11.
